Beyond the Ruin: Investigating the Fragment in English Studies
23-25 November 2017
Call for papers – Extended deadline: 23 April 2017
The 10th International Conference of the Hellenic Association for the Study of English (HASE) is organised and hosted by the Department of English Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Our theme for 2017 is “Beyond the Ruin: Investigating the Fragment in English Studies” and invites reflection on the histories, theorisations, and representations of fragments and ruins in Anglophone literatures and cultures.
Founded in 1990, the Hellenic Association for the Study of English is a constituent member of the European Association of the Study of English (ESSE). The HASE bi-annual conferences are organised alternately by the Departments of English Language and Literature of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Our last two conferences Rethinking Democracy in literature, Language & Culture (2015) and The Letter of the Law (2011) have attracted a number of scholars from the wide area of English Studies and brought together a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives.
